Born in Campina Grande City, in Paraiba state, Brazil, CABRUERA’s been on the
road for 15 years. Playing for a diverse public, of a vast variety of languages, they
played on some of the major international and Brazilian festivals, and over fifty
shows through Europe.
In 2015, the group from Paraiba released a double record in the USA and in Europe
under the English label Tumi Music and won the best song and best video award
from Akademia Awards in Los Angeles.
Originally integrated by Paraiba’s Federal University (UFPB) alumni, the band is
composed today of six musicians with diverse musical influences that range from
Paraiba’s proverbial trandition’s songs, coco, repente, forró, embolada and ciranda,
through rock, reggae, dub, afrobeat, world music and more.
They toured Europe and Brazil many times and recorded the albums Cabruêra
(2000), My Homeland Samba (2004), Paraiba Sounds (2005), Prescience (2010)
and Northeast Occult (2012).
The new album has been produced Felipe Alvarez from Polen Records (CO) and is set to be released in 2021
