Section 115 of the U.S. Copyright Act gives anyone a license, in fact it’s called a compulsory license because it can’t be denied, to record any song that has already been commercially recorded and to distribute recordings of that song. Section 115 of the US Copyright Act sets the requirements for a Compulsory Mechanical License, compulsory meaning the copyright holder must issue the license. So, anyone can record and release a cover song and the songwriter(s) can’t forbid it, so long as certain requirements from Section 115 are met.
Do NOT send fraudulent takedown requests, contact us instead and you will be provided with everything necessary to prove that no sampling was used.
