As a member of K-pop girl group Twice, Korean singer Nayeon has topped the charts in South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. with the band's infectious dance-pop anthems found on platinum releases such as 2020's Eyes Wide Open and 2021's Formula of Love. In 2022, she released her debut solo EP, IM NAYEON, followed by 2024's NA.
Born in Seoul in 1995, Nayeon became a JYP Entertainment trainee in 2010, first joining the lineup for a short-lived group before participating in the Sixteen reality competition show to become part of Twice. The nine-piece girl group debuted in 2015, swiftly rising on the Korean and U.S. charts with hit albums Twicetagram, Eyes Wide Open, and Formula of Love, while also breaking into the Japanese market with a handful of chart-topping albums and compilations.
In 2022, she made her formal debut as a solo artist with the self-titled EP IM NAYEON (JYP/Republic Records). The short set featured the tracks "No Problem" with Felix of Stray Kids and "Love Countdown" with Wonstein. Upon release, the effort topped the South Korean album chart and the U.S. World Albums chart. It also reached the Top Ten of the Billboard 200.
Nayeon returned in June 2024 with her sophomore EP, NA, which featured a handful of Top 40 South Korean chart hits, including "Butterflies," "Heaven" featuring Sam Kim, "Magic" with Julie from Kiss of Life, and "HalliGalli." Also included was the single "ABCD," which landed on the Global Billboard 200. Once again, NA topped both the South Korean and U.S. World Albums charts. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
